How to reach;
The district town Cesme is very close to Izmir, only 45 minutes of bus travel from Uckuyular. There are regular ferries operating between Cesme and Greek island Chios and also to Brindisi and Bari (Italy) as well.
Places of interest;
In Cesme, there is an old castle which was built in 1508 by Ottoman Empire and als a two stories of Kervansaray built in 1528. There are also plenty of historic buildings those witnessed the long history of the city.
On a hill you may find the ruins of an Acropolice. 15 kilometers north, historic castle Kalemburnu and its ruins remains ironically on city of ancient Erythrai, a settlement from 1000 b.c.


What to do?
There are hundreds of unique things in Cesme but we recommend you not to forget sand and wind.
Ilica beach is the world famous sand beach, over 10 kilometers of a natural coast. There are a few parts of the beach where thermal water pops out. This is Cesme, you never know what miracle is next !
Unlike Ilica beach, Alacati is wild and windy. Alacati is counted one of the most famous windsurf heaven on earth.
Museums;
There are both an archeological and an ethnographical museum in Cesme.
History
In the course of its history stood for Cesme, under the name Cyssus based, under the rule of the Ionier, the Lykier, the Perser, the Romans, the Byzantiner and finally the Osmanen.
